This is not a fitness post. It’s about one’s goals aligned with their value system.
“I often get asked, why do I focus on training and nutrition like a performance athlete? Corporte job, family guy, training and eating this way does not make sense. What is the purpose? Well, It’s a valid question. I have been training for the last 6 years. Thats around 1300 hours in the gym. Close to 4000 Healthy meals and counting. Pushed heaps of weights and managed a certification under my belt. Why? Well, everything that is worthwhile in my life, started after I altered course and took charge of my physical self 6 years ago. It required a good deal of mental toughness. The same can be attributed to my early years spent in a boarding school. I understood the sense of self discipline and it’s value proposition early and that taught me how to control my environment and not get controlled by it. I lost track as a Yong adult, however, bounced back a few years ago. Weight training gave me purpose in life. This passion of mine distinguishes me from the crowd. It is a reminder of the hard times I got through with persistence to do something which has helped me to cultivate a better environment not just for myself, but for everyone attached to me. You often do things without a greater purpose and those things become habits that control and direct your actions. I train because it gives me satisfaction. I take care of my nutrtion because it takes care of me. No matter what goes on in other areas of my life, I stick to these principles as they have become my belief and are a part of my value system. It’s imperative to find your why and work on it constantly.
Being passionate and having skills in a vocation helps you to build yourself in other areas of life. Obsession, persistence, belief and self discipline are the quarter set of cardinal virtues which gets you to world class. You might not get results instantly, but when you start to see a difference, you will find your purpose. Set goals and build a strong value system to drive your purpose.
I lift, I believe, therefore I am!
